  1. I think that to play basketball, you need to know how to pass, dribble, and shoot. I think that you need to learn how to pass because it will help you get up and down the court easier than by yourself. I also think that dribbling is important because if there is no one to pass to, you can dribble it down and shoot. Finally, I think that shooting is important because if you don't know how to shoot, you will never make a point. I think that the players responsibilities are to work as a team. Not to blame each other for mistakes. I also think that never giving up is a part of their responsibilities because if you give up, you will never make a part. " If the team wins, the team wins together, if the team loses, they lose together. " I think that this quote connects to the responsibilities of the players because they support each other and don't blame anyone for anything. In little 8, we used this quote to help push us forward and work as a team. I think that passing can be used in most sports because if you don't know how to pass, then whats the point of a team? You need to pass to move the team forward. For example, last year, my little 8 never passed, and we came 8th place. But now, we now how to pass and we actually pass and we came 3rd place, and we are using mostly everybody from the old team. I think that the attitude can be used in all sports because if you are mean to your players, they won't want to play with you, so they will give up or not pass to you. Making your team fail.

    1. I totally agree with you Bethany - all athletes have a responsibility not only to themselves, but also to their team. I like how you connected the skills and lessons learned in our basketball unit to your experience at Little 8. This is a great example of how certain skills are transferable to various sports.

    2. Bethany, I think that your response was great. I totally agree that all the athletes have responsibility not only to themselves, but also to their team. Also I think that you are totally right when you say that if there is no one to pass you can dribble all the way to the net. I really liked how described everything well and I was able to understand everything you said.

  2. To start with, to play basketball, you need to have good passing, shooting, jumping, and running / dribbling skills. Passing because when people are marking you, you got to past or else it will be a double dribble and the ball will go to the other team. Shooting because you need the ball to go in the basket so you can make a score and even win the game. Jumping because sometimes, in the game, you have to jump to shoot or jump to get a ball that was thrown. Running and dribbling because sometimes everybody playing is on one side and then somebody can pass to you and you can go dribbling really fast to the other side to shoot. Second, to win a game, all players have to have responsibility. I think the main one is that you have to be opened so anyone can pass the ball to you. Lastly, basketball skills can be used in many other games. Such as, soccer. You have to run with the ball to the other side of court. Also, american football. You have to jump to catch the ball.

  3. To begin with, to play in a successful basketball game it's required to know how to jump, pass, dribble, run and shoot. Overall, I think passing and running are the most important skills required because that links you to the other people on your team. Because in order to play a good game, you have to play as a team, and if you don't pass or run to try to get the ball, that woun't help your team mates. Dribbling because it can get past the other team, and also get you closer to the shooting area. Last but not least, it's important to be able to jump, not only to be closer to the hoop, but also because it's required to be able to catch. Sometimes your team mates don't shoot correctly, meaning, aiming at your hands, so they end up shooting it higher. In order to not lose the ball, you would have to jump. That leads to a very important thing, teamwork. I think the most important thing in the vast majority of sports is to be able play fairly and with your team mates. Because if only one player has the ball the whole game, and never passes, he or she will never be able to move forward and score. Lastly, I think basketball skills could be used in many other sports because the skills required can always be improved, it's not like you can completely master them in an amount of time. Probably, any sport with a ball can require this skills.

    1. Martina, I agree, teamwork is essential in a variety of sports. Working together as a team requires a great deal of commitment, patience and understanding. These are skills that can be used in various activities outside of the PE and sport setting.

    2. Martina,
I think all your points really support your ideas. Teamwork and dribbling and jumping are all very important in basketball. I think your examples were good and you showed how it can be used effectively in a game.

  4. To play basketball, you need to have at least a basic understanding of passing, dribbling and shooting. That way you know how to play the game. The responsibilities are different for each player depending on where you are. However, if you are moving down the court to get to your net, you have to remember to pass and include everyone on the team. If you are at the basket you have to get the ball and try to make a point for your team. If it is a throe in, you have to get open so your teammate can pass to you. If you don't catch the ball or do not make a basket, it is OK. It does not work every time and it is the job of your teammates to not blame you and cheer you on for next time.
In every day activities, you have to be able to work well with others, respect them, and be good at communicating. These are all used in basketball since it is a team sport. If you can pass well and work well with others in a sport like basketball, it will be much easier for you to work together with someone on a school or work project. If you try to control things to much, you will not have the respect of your teammates or co-workers. This is very important since projects require friendship and communication which can be difficult if the person you are working with does not like you. Basketball also requires communication since you have to let each other know who is open and pass successfully.

We learned all of these in PHE class, and it wasn't a very big challenge for most people. You must also us mental skills such as using teamwork, and also knowing where to position yourself and keep your team motivated. What are players' responsibilities? The players responsibilities are to work as a team and know when to do what they should do. To have a successful game, your team must pass a lot and position themselves in the easiest possible way to make the point. 6. To play basketball successfully, I learned that you have to have accurate and strong shots and passes, throw the ball in a way that the defender can't block it, be fast, jump high, and never give up! If you don't pass accurately and with strength, the ball might be intercepted or not reach your teammate. Also, you need to throw the ball high enough so that the defender doesn't block it, like LeBron James does. Finally, you need to jump high so you can score rebounds and/or block shots.

  7. In order for you to have a good and successful basketball game you need to have teamwork. Also the players decision and actions does affect a game. So for you to have a good basketball game you need to have at least a little knowledge about the rules in basketball. Basketball is not a sport where you can simply copy from the other players, each player has a different responsibility.

  8. For a successful basketball I think you need to have teamwork and a strategy. This is because if you don't cooperate and pass the ball one to the other you will never be able to get close to the basket or even make a basket. Also, you have to be in a place where it is going to be good for the other player in your team to pass you the ball. Not only this but you need to learn how to work fast and in a tight space. If you are able to do the last two thing I just mentioned you are closer to being a successful basketball player. Not to mention, in a basketball game all players have a important responsibility. They have to make themselves available for others in their team to pass them the ball. For these reasons, the most important skill to having a successful basketball game is being able to use teamwork.

    1. Daniela I think that you're right. Teamwork is a very important part of Basketball because you need to have someone to pas sit to al all times. You cannot just charge out into the field and expect to score. You need to have a strategy in place so that you know who to pass it to at any time. You also need to have a plan to score, maybe get the best free thrower in your team and get him to shoot from far away or get someone that is good at layups to well go in and do a layup. All in all I think you're right you need to have a lot of teamwork when it comes to basketball.

  9. In order to play Basketball correctly it is important to have a strategy in place. This will help you so that when you are in a tough spot you know exactly who to pass it to. You also need teamwork because you have to play as a team in order to be able to win. You cannot take on the entire team by yourself. You also need to have good control of the ball. If you do not have control of the ball then you will not be able to dribble around the opposing teams defense. You must also be able to dribble the ball fast so that you can get from one side of the field to another quickly.

  10. I believe that player's decisions and actions form the result of the basketball game whether it is a loss or a win. But to do this, they need great amount of stamina to keep running for them to keep up with the pace of the opponents' and win the game. Not only that but they each have a responsibility. A responsibility of trust in one another. Each one must believe in one another and use that to do teamwork and come out with awesome plays. Not only can this be applied in basketball but other sports and activities as well. One gets to learn to trust others which will decrease the pressure on you and use them to make plays or if not in sports, gain benefits.
