  1. I used to think team building was creating a team, but now I think team building is a community where everyone works together to achieve a goal.

  2. My thoughts about team building were pretty different. Over every activity and each explanations I realized many things like if we never learned team building, we really wouldn't be doing sports the correct way. If it didn't exist, a community wouldn't exist! That basically means everything would be individually which is not a good example. Finally, I used to think that team building was when you played a sport with a certain team but now I think team building is where a new community is formed and during the game you work together to hopefully achieve your goal as a team. I knew the basic meaning, but still needed to extend my thinking about team building.

  6. Like Brenna said, I always knew team building was important but I feel like I now have a deeper understanding of it. Before, I didnt really know what team building was, I figured it was when you tried to make the best team but now I know that team building is when you work as a team to try to accomplish one goal. I think this skill will come in handy in the future and not just in sports.

  8. I used to think that team building was just literally building your teams, and making them fair. But now I think that team building is a skill everyone needs to work and collaborate together in a game with teams.

  9. I used to think team building was something with only collaborating but after the team building class I discovered that team building is something more than collaboration and its about team work and if someone dosen't help the whole class will be bad.

    1. The challenge then becomes how to motivate our teammates to engage in team work and collaboration. How could we do that?

  10. I believe that community is a sense of being a part of a group in which people look out for each other because they are willing to make the group better and stronger. this relates to team sports because in a team, like in a community, the players are part of a group and have to look out for one another by cooperating and not only doing what is best for the individual but rather for the group. The skills needed for teamwork are an open-mind, in order to be able to accept other people's ideas, and being a good listener, in order to understand what the group needs and to then find ways to achieve those goals. Cooperation is when one person or group helps another person or group achieve their goals while collaboration is when two people or groups work together to achieve a mutual goal. Both are good, in my opinion. The Graded core values at play here are those of being communicators and inclusive because those characteristics are essential to good team players. A good community, or team, are only as good as their weakest member and therefore they must help one another to achieve the best of their abilities by not focusing only on what they want but what is best for the whole group.

  11. Community is a group that has an identity. It is also a group that provides you with a safe haven and where thoughts can be exchanged freely. A community normally has some sort of shared beliefs that can be applied to everyday life. Community is related to team sports and group activities, because a team needs to have a sense of community to be able to communicate effectively and feel free to express their thoughts and criticisms of the team. A team community needs to have a solid understanding of the sport or game rules and they need to establish a plan, that is shared between them all. The skills necessary in teamwork are good communication, because a team needs to communicate effectively in order to execute their beliefs and goals well. Cooperation is simply working together, but collaboration is sharing ideas and putting equal parts into one final goal. The Graded Core Values are being practiced and applied in team building, because one of the main goals is good communicators. Team members need communication and need to learn how to express their thoughts well. A good community is one where no member feels unequal and all members are inclusive and communicate with one another to achieve a goal.
