  1. What decisions and actions impact the success of a game? Well a decision that you have to take in team handball is team work, because when you try to score and someone is blocking you have to rely on your team mates to be there to pass to them. Team handball develops the understanding of the skills and concepts needed to be physical and health literate, this connects with the video because in the videos it shows team works with the gouts, and shows that it takes long to learn a sport, so you have to be dedicated.

    1. Hi Jacque, I agree, teamwork is important in handball...the team has to collaborate with each other in order to be successful during a game. Dedication is most definitely needed in order to improve and develop your skills as a player and as a team, thus improving your understanding of physical and health literacy.

  2. What movement skills and concepts practiced in team handball are similar in other sports? Which sports? Well like any other sport, handball has it's movement skills and concepts, but many of them can be connected to other sports. For example, in handball the movement skill of dribbling and passing is connected to basketball because in handball you use your hand to dribble across opponents with the ball and in basketball you also do when you have an open space. Then, passing can be connected to basketball also because in team handball you can either dribble or pass to your team by using many types of throws like the bounce pass, side pass, overhand pass, etc... Now going to basketball, it's the same thing! Passing and throwing are both used in basketball and team handball! A concept that could also be connected is that handball uses goals like soccer. Both sports use goals with posts and a net, but handball has to use their hand to score compared to soccer who uses their feet. So as you can see, team handball has many skills that are connected to different sports, but adds some touches to make it a different sport which is now called team handball. Lastly, team handball develops the understanding of the skills and concepts needed to be physical and health literate because like both videos show, you need many skills to learn how to play the sport like throwing, passing, and being a goalkeeper. They don't just transform to that, they take all the time that is needed to improve each time which is sometimes not happening in physical and health of some people around the world since they don't practice physical education sufficiently. Team handball needs to have dedication like the first video showed. Team handball really helps you with many skills that are important for both physical and health so you better keep track of your self! And finally remember, practice makes perfect!

    2. Headline:

Are you good or like the type of physical practices where you have to use your strong hands to throw a ball? Welcome to handball!

  3. What movement skills and concepts practiced in team handball are similar in other sports? Which sports? Well, some of the movements in handball is passing, throwing and dribbling. This relates to basketball, because you need to dribble with the ball to move to the goal which is similar to basketball, but the only thing that is different is shooting the ball with the hand to the goal. Not the basketball goal. But also I think that it is mixed with basketball and soccer because of the dribbling but you shoot the ball with your hand at the soccer goal. also the goalkeeper is kind of similar to soccer also.

    2. I can connect this to out enduring understanding "Team handball develops the understanding of the skills and concepts needed to be physical and health literate." Since hand ball is related to some sports, you can be physical. And if you be physical, you won't have health problems

  4. How is collaboration needed in team handball?
If you don't collaborate in handball you can't score in this game, without helping one another you will loose. But the point of this game isn't winning it's collaboration, when you collaborate with each other you are participating like an example of collaboration is passing the ball to each other. In class we pass to each other 4 times before shooting in the goal. Collaboration is needed in team handball because it's a game that you need to cooperate, it's even in the name ( TEAM handball).
What movement skills and concepts practiced in team handball are similar in other sports? Which sports?
The skills that we practice in handball are similar in basketball but not only that there're the skill's of being a goalie just like in soccer. In basketball you need to drible and pass the ball to your teammates just like in handball. Another sport that is similar to handball is frisbee because you need to throw it over then your teammate catches.

    1. Hi Christophe, you made some good connections to the videos and our activities in PE. I agree, collaboration is essential to a team's success. Without collaboration, players would never learn to work as a team. Team handball is a sport that incorporates the skills and concepts from other sports. Use this knowledge to further develop your skills in team handball. Also, how could you connect what you wrote to our enduring understanding for this unit?

  5. Team hand ball is a game that consists of bouncing a small ball, like basket ball, and scoring it in a goal, like soccer. In this game collaboration is very important because if someone is just standing there and he gets the ball passed to him, then the ball will just pass him and a person from the other team will get it.

  6. What movement skills and concepts practiced in team handball are similar in other sports? Which sports? I know that handball is a mixture of basketball and soccer for multiple reasons. Basket ball because the defence is always close to you and playing as best as they can so you miss the shot or make a lousy mistake, and it is also similar because of dribbling and passing the moves and passing skills are practically identical except for the size of the ball. It is also similar to soccer because the ball is just like a soccer one just smaller and the goal is very similar.

  7. What movement skills and concepts practiced in team handball are similar in other sports? Which sports?
In Team Handball there are some skills and concepts that are also practiced in other sports. For example, in basketball you have to dribble to be able to run with the ball just like in handball. Also, in basketball you pass to members of your team to be able to score a point just like in handball. Another sport is soccer. In soccer you score a point by making a goal, putting the ball into the other teams goal, which in team handball is the exact same thing.

  8. How is collaboration needed in team handball?
Collaboration is needed in almost every part of team handball. The name already says it itself, TEAM handball. In a team people need to work together, or collaborate to achieve a goal. In Handball people work together in passing, spreading out, marking, defending, and scoring. They all do this together to achieve the goal of scoring a goal and not letting the other team score. This is connected to our enduring understanding because to be a physical and health literate person, you need to know how to work in teams, and handball is one of the best sports to demonstrate teamwork.

  9. Handball is a sport that is similar to futsal in its game structure since it is played on a court with one goal on each side and has two teams playing trying to score a goal with a ball. It is also similar to basketball since you have to use your hands to bounce the ball and score. It is important to have good teamwork in handball because there is a lot of passing involved in order to take the ball from one side of the court to the other because it is very hard to do so by simply running and dribbling because so many people from the other team will be able to block you. It requires good hand-eye coordination in order to throw the ball where you want it to, stamina to run from one side of the court to the other quickly several times, and agility to sidestep opponents to get to where you want. I mainly played as goalie so these didn’t apply to me as much other than hand (and foot) eye coordination which was very important to block the balls correctly. It was a very fun but difficult sport to play this year and I was able to improve my skills a lot by focusing on which ones were necessary.

  10. tHandball is a sport that is similar to basketball in its movements, but similar to futsal in its structure. It is similar to basketball since you have dribble the ball and pass to other players using similar movements. The overhand pass and the bounce pass are very similar, and also the travel rules. The structure of the game is more similar to futsal, because two teams are trying to score on the other team and the goal is used to score into to. It is really important to collaborate in handball, because to score goals it is necessary to pass quickly to other players on your team in order for the other team not to steal the ball or block you. Passing in handball is key to being able to move the ball up the court. The decisions and actions that impact the game is people's ability to think critically and analyze a situation to determine whether or not to pass to someone and who to pass to. Your decision to keep the ball, pass, or shoot can determine if your team loses the ball or not. Team handball helped me realize the importance of using other members of the team in order to achieve the most success.

  11. Team hand ball is like basketball but you throw it into the goal.
Movement skills are a lot like basketball and soccer. because you have to dribble and the goalie is a lot like the goalie in soccer. collaboration is needed in order to pass to one another, and to win or play a game. The decisions affect the game on how well you are in teams, because in this kind of a game everyone needs to participate and rely on each other in order to have a succesful game. I think that there is a lot of physical fitness in handball, because of all the running and etc. It can also benefit your cardiovascular.

  12. In the videos, there are many scenes of great handball passes, shots, dribbles and goals. We can various things being explored. Firstly, as a connection to the essential questions, team handball can be connected to numerous other sports. Based on the videos, I can see that it posses similarities to basketball, water polo and soccer. In the basketball, the same concepts of dribbling, passing and working and using hands can be seen. Water polo uses the shooting movement when used to score. Soccer is also a team sport, which consists of scoring goals and has a goalie.
In the videos, there is also a obvious representation of team work. In a sport in which you have a limited amount of moves, passing and cooperating is crucial. The players must learn that they cannot have a successful result without each other's help. They must practice strategies, player placement, and communication. Every member of the team has a specific part to play and job, however they are all working together for a common goal.
Finally, the videos clearly connect to physical and health literacy. There are various movements which are clearly specific to handball, such as dribbling, shooting and passing. A player must be physically literate to know how to perform these movements with success. As it is a sport, team handball is clearly beneficial to a person's health, and players must keep fit in order to compete. Individuals must know the impacts of certain things in their bodies and how it will influence their game. It can also work the other way around.

  13. Looking at the group playing handball, I can see that collaboration is a huge part in being successful at the sport. Like any team sport, these players are all working towards the same goal, and need each other in order to achieve it.
In the beginning, we can see that they plan together and develop a strategy, which will ensure that the game is organized. Each person has a part to play, rather it is goalie, defender, attacker, or midfield, each one has a specific purpose. It is like a puzzle, in which the players are the pieces that go together to form a picture.
They also need each other in order to do things, passing and dribbling are crucial to a successful game. The team communicates and this will help them score goals and balance out their strategies.
Another thing that I believe is part of a team sport is encouragement. Even while some might be out, they are there to support their team and make sure they continue on struggling. If something goes wrong, it is not one person's fault, but the entire team. While someone might stand out, the entire team is credited.

  14. How is team handball similar to other sports?
Through what I can observe and know about team handball, I can form a number of comparisons. Firstly, it is a team sport that requires dribbling with the hands, that is connected to basketball in many ways. Quick movements and coordination of hands and feet are influential in both sports. Next, one sport that I practiced during a few years was soccer (now I have stopped). Both games follow a similar structure and purpose, to score a goal. There is also a familiar sense of defense, middle, attack and goalie. Finally, I can see that there is a specific way in which the players throw the ball in order to score. This reminds me of water polo. Also, when I practice athletics, I also do a few throwing movements with the weight balls, which carries a few similar components as the throwing needed for handball.

  15. What decisions and actions impact the success of a game?

Like any other team sport, teamwork is extremely important and team handball - like the name itself states, is a sport that requires two or more teams to play. Handball is similar to basketball because of how you dribble and pass, soccer because of the way you throw the ball into the goal and water polo with how you throw the ball into the goal (I think).

However, a major thing in handball is the passing and from the experience I've had both playing and watching this sport is the passing. So an important decision that impacts the success of the game is the passing. Based on what I've seen, passing the ball to a free person is much more useful than passing it to someone who is surrounded by members of the opposite team.

  16. How is collaboration needed in team handball?

Team handball is a team sport, like the name itself states. The word team, according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, means "come together as a team to achieve a common goal". The goal in team handball would be to score a goal and to make sure your team wins.

To be a team in team handball, you need to pass the ball to your teammates constantly, because teamwork is the beauty of a sport, where you have five acting as one. You become selfless and therefore it is impossible to have a good time playing and it becomes harder to win.

  17. What is team handball?
Team handball is a European sport which was first developed in the late 1920s. It consists of 2 teams of seven players. The match last two periods of 30 minutes and the objective is to score as many goals as possible. Strategically, players are divided between midfield, attack and defense.
In order to be successful, players must use a series of techniques and strategies to reach the goal, and to defend theirs. There are a few key terminology terms that can help describe these.
Goal area- an area surrounding the goal, players cannot cross the goal area line, only the goalie may do so.
There are others such as corners, free throw, etc. There are also various different forms of shots and throws, which are needed for teams to actually score.
Another important aspect is how to get to the goal. In order to do so, the teams must use dribbling and passing techniques to maintain control of the ball and not lose its possession.

  18. Team handball develops the understanding of the skills and concepts needed to be physical and health literate.
Looking back at my previous comments, I believe there are various key connections to the enduring understanding. Firstly, I believe it is important to understand what physical and health literacy is. A person that is physically literate is knowledgeable and able to move and perform tasks easily and confidently. Health literacy applies to knowing how to take care and maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Like any other sport, handball helps maintain a good form and make the body function well. Not only does it help maintain weight, but it will aid the functions that are important for the body to work. It also works the other way around, as the being an athlete requires a balanced diet and the person to be aware of their food and health choices because it will impact their success and results during a game situation.
Secondly, handball applies greatly to the physical aspect of knowledge. Using my previous comment as a point of reference, it is clear that the handball player must know and be able to confidently perform a series of movements and techniques to be successful. These are applied to the concepts and skills that develop a physically literate person. Looking into the game situation, there are specific shot movements, such as an overhead throw or dribbling, that the players need to know how to make their body do.
Overall, there are various factors that contribute to creating a successful handball player. As the person develops these, physical and health literacy are a result. The players will become more knowledgeable and concerned about these aspects because it will impact their performance in a game situation.
